We put our house up for sale last month. We are trying to get to another area that has a better school district. The schools here aren’t very challenging.
We’re doing lots of things to get the house ready to sell. We had a small living room, so we built a bigger one last year. So now we have a big family/TV room and a smaller formal living room. I think that put more value in the house.
We recently trimmed all the trees so you could see the house more before you turn into our driveway, and the large yard looks much better. We’ve also stored some furniture that we didn’t need to have so that it doesn’t look too crowded. My mom has learned a lot about staging houses on HGTV.
We have to always have the house clean because someone could come and see the house any time. So it’s hard keeping everything clean and picked up all the time. We have all worked hard on trying to fix up the house and keep it looking good.
We’ve moved lots of times! This move will be the eighth time I’ve moved in my life! So, we are all experts at moving.
I hate moving so much because each time I have to say goodbye to all my friends and start again in a new school. I hope this will be the last time I move for a long while.
We are going to move from this small town to a city. I love the city way better than the country because I love to shop. Right now, we have to drive 45 minutes to get to the mall. I want the mall to be down the street from where I live.
Schools in a city tend to be better, and there is more opportunity in a city for jobs. You can also find good doctors and hospitals easier in a big city.
I can and cannot wait until we move. I’ll really miss all my friends, but I want to be in a better school. I’ll always keep in touch with my friends though, especially in the newest way, texting! I hope we can move this summer and find our dream house.

The housing market is pretty slow right now, but I’m sure your house will sell eventually. You’ll just have to be patient.
I agree that life in or near a city is much better, for all the reasons you gave. In particular, larger schools can offer more and better programs, especially advanced programs. That gives you an advantage when you eventually head off to university.
I know that leaving friends is always hard. But the best friends are always there, and it sometimes turns out that you end up in the same place with them again.
Amber, I can sympathize with you on the entire moving project. The fun part is envisioning a great new place in the city and a new school with lots of challenging and fun opportunities. Only distance separates you from old friends.
Amber, I can’t help sympathizing with you when you say that you hate moving so much because each time you have to say goodbye to all your friends. Yet, once I was told that the art in which the secret of human happiness in a great measure consists, is to set the habits in such a manner, that every change may be a change for the better. Actually, I think that every change may be capitalized on in a new opportunity. It’s up to you now to show the rest of the world that you are able to enjoy the benefits of change and minimize its possible negative effects. You decide if the cup is half empty or half full..
