In today’s health care debate in America, comparisons are routinely made to the health care systems of other countries. Those comparisons are often distorted by misinformation and misunderstanding about how other countries deal with the problems of delivering quality health care while controlling costs. It’s self-evident that the U.S. must find a way to control escalating [...]

Camille Paglia takes on the Democrats today in her column at Salon.com, mainly in regard to the health care debate. She also takes firm positions on the war in Afghanistan, the Van Jones controversy, and White House bungling of the President’s speech to school children. Paglia is an established Democrat and a liberal who hears and understands all sides of arguments. [...]

On Sunday, September 6 The Washington Post published another article by former President Jimmy Carter on issues involving Israel and the Palestinians. Carter’s article reported on a trip he made to the region with several other people he referred to as “Elders,” people who in the past have shown no evenhandedness on Middle East issues. [...]

I just read the full text of President Obama’s planned speech today to students in schools all over America. It’s obvious that the conservatives and Republicans who generated so much controversy about this speech should have read it before they complained. There’s nothing wrong with the speech. In fact, it’s inspirational. It’s great to have the President of the [...]

I doubt if many people take Michael Moore as seriously as he takes himself — if, indeed, he is serious in his many attacks on big business. Moore is, after all, an entertainer, and entertainers give the people what they think the people want — not necessarily honest facts. Controversy and allegations sell many more [...]

Still another of Obama’s picks to fill an Administration position, this time a “czar” in his inner circle, has failed the “sunlight” test. The czars, of course, are the more than 30 friends and friends-of-friends who serve as advisers to and answer to Obama. These individuals don’t face approval by Congress, nor do they have to deal with anyone [...]

One of the most disturbing aspects of the health care reform debate is the confusion and complexity of the various proposals under consideration in Congress. It’s clear, though, that what’s there now, in particular H.R. 3200, isn’t going to fly. As Congress rushes to cobble together something they might be able to pass and send [...]

I’ve been thinking about what the President is going to say to Congress in his speech next week about health care reform — or health insurance reform, as he’s begun to call it. The Democrats obviously aren’t going to get anything close to the sweeping plans they’ve been grinding out. I’m concerned that they, at [...]

Its a shame really but he did get himself into this “politically charged” situation with all of his flim-flam tactics on healthcare and his ‘economy-destroying-in-the-name-of-Green’ Cap and Trade proposal. How can you trust someone who shows absolutely no regard for American traditions, American institutions, the core of hard-working American taxpayers or the free enterprise system that made this country the riches country on earth.

Obama is a very radical example of Liberalism and while some are not as radical, all Liberals are control freaks! Until they can control every aspect of public life, they will keep trying — its a vicious cycle that will only end when they are no longer in control of Congress (or the White House).

Before you embark on a journey of revenge, dig two graves — one for yourself. That’s a slightly modified version of a quote supposedly from Confucius. The Obama Administration and congressional Democrats would do well to think about it. Seeking revenge against political opponents formerly in power by attempting to criminalize and incarcerate them is a [...]

After reading the previous article by Amber I was put in mind of the innocence of our kids and the ease with which they are impressed and influenced by adults. We should always be on guard against those who will take advantage of our children and hence our future. I’m of the strong conviction that childhood is [...]

School started August 24th, and I’m in 7th grade! I was excited to go back to school to see my friends, but I knew I was going to miss the Summer. The first day of school I was so happy to see my friends and my teachers were really nice. My first period is English. [...]

In his column in The Washington Post yesterday, Richard Cohen took a thoughtful approach to questions surrounding the controversy over enhanced interrocation techniques. When the the absolutes of political ideology are stripped away, the questions that remain are very difficult to answer. Even the terms of the discussion are controversial and often misleading. “Torture” is defined by one [...]

That’s a bold thing for anyone to say, especially someone who used to be a peace officer, but I’ll repeat it: you are above the law. I do not mean to say that you are free to injure people, far from it. What I mean is that you are above the law when you sit [...]
