Truth and Pravda

November 2nd, 2009

pravda1Once upon a time the word “Pravda”, meaning “truth” in Russian, was a worldwide joke.  Why?  Because as a state-supported newspaper under a despotic Communist regime, the newspaper was telling anything but.

So how bad do you think it has to get before Pravda is lecturing America on how its people are naively walking down the road to communism, Marxism, and socialism?

Some excerpts from an article in April 2009:

Marxism is happening with breathtaking speed, against the backdrop of a passive, hapless sheeple, excuse me dear reader, I meant people….

The Russian owners of American companies and industries should look thoughtfully at this, and at the option of closing down their facilities and fleeing the land of red as fast as possible….

First, the population was dumbed down through a politicized and substandard education system….  Americans know more about their favorite TV dramas than they do about the drama in Washington, which directly affects their lives….  Then they turn around and lecture us about our rights and about our democracy.  Pride blinds the foolish.…

The final collapse has come with the election of Barack Obama. His speed in the past 3 months has been truly impressive.  HIs spending and printing of money has been record-setting [emphasis added]….  If this keeps up for more than another year, and there is no sign that it will not, America will at best resemble the Weimar Republic, and at worst Zimbabwe.

The past two weeks have been the most breathtaking of all….  It should be no surprise that the American President has followed  this up with a bold move of declaring that he and another group of unelected, chosen stooges [the czars, emphasis added], will now redesign the entire automotive industry, and will be the guarantee of automobile policies. …

And the conclusion?

The proud American will go down into his slavery without a fight, beating his chest and proclaiming to the world how free he really is.  The world will only snicker.

Some people in this country have been warning lately that we are heading down the road to socialism.  Many more have scoffed at this assertion, calling it “unwarranted” and “crazy talk”.  As for myself, I say that when a country that has “been there, done that” is literally laughing at you for walking down the exact same road that you spent 50 years fighting to keep the world from taking, something is seriously wrong.

So do yourselves and the nation a favor.  Read the article.  Figure out whether you recognize any of the things they’re saying as things that are actually happening in our country.  And then please, for the love of your country, your children, and your freedom, fight this trend while we still have a chance.

    Very good, very true.
Why can’t most Americans see thru the Obama charade?
Day’s of tribulation await us all.

Larry, it isn’t just Obama. Sure, Bush “saved” us from terrorism for the last 7 years, but have you ever stopped to consider what it is that is motivating the terrorists to begin with?

I read Pravda for a long time, starting when I studied Russian for a year in a language institute when I was 19-20. Back in the days of the USSR, few Russians took it seriously, and not many take it seriously today. Given that this is one columnist writing in Pravda, I wouldn’t worry about it.

The translation of the Russian in red in the old Pravda poster with Lenin is:

The newspaper — not only a collective propagandist and a collective agitator, but also a collective organizer.

Under the word “Pravda” at the top, it says “Organ of the Central Committee of the CPSU.” (CPSU means Communist Party of the Soviet Union.)

Why does all this make me think of The New York Times? Maybe they should change their motto from “All the news that’s fit to print” to “Organ of the Democractic Party of the U.S.”

    Just a thought.

I think it is best to weed out the opinion and find the truth which is written in the article. It must be interesting to view from afar what is happening here in the states. And for those of us who are not sitting around watching reality TV but are keenly watching the socialism unfold in this country, it is unnerving.

Brian, I’m not sure what you’re referring to. Don’t get me wrong, I can think of possible replies and they would probably all have truth to them, but I’m not sure what specifically you’re referring to.

I refer to our government’s penchant for poking hornets’ nests with really short sticks. We’ve been doing it so long that most have come to see it as the natural state of things, something we have a “right” to do because of our power.

Brian – agreed; just checking :-)
