Monty Python on Gays in the Military

December 22nd, 2010

By Tom Carter

I’m a big fan of Monty Python. Their satire is priceless, although it often bites hard, especially for people firmly wedded to whatever it is that falls under their sights.

As a preemptive defense, I supported the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.”  Having said that, the video below the fold is hilarious.  I take it as Monty Python skewering those who oppose gays in the military; you can take it however you wish.  In any case, it’s still funny.

One Response to “Monty Python on Gays in the Military”

This is the 1960s in Britain. It is inconceivable that the sketch was attacking homophobia, sadly. This and a series of other homophobic Monty Python sketches (eg the gay policeman) have been quietly forgotten for the most part – that may be best.
