Team Obama Has Spent So Much that It Has to Keep Begging for More

October 31st, 2012

By Dan Miller

The Obama Campaign has been run like the United States of Obama.

Yesterday, I received just one measly begging e-mail from the Obama campaign. Starting to feel left out, I have already received three today, each slightly different from the others.

This is the one begging e-mail I received yesterday: But first, a word some tears from the sponsor:

Obama - Biden

Listen — we’re not there yet, and I’m not one to sugarcoat things.

Mitt Romney and the Republicans entered the last leg of this campaign with $45 million more in the bank than us. That’s a problem, no matter where the polls stand.

It is simply not an option in my mind to come this far just to have the other side buy this election at the very last minute. We have the momentum in this race, but it’s going to take every single one of us — and that means you, my friend — stepping up and taking ownership of this campaign.

Chip in $5 or more before our final budget deadline at the end of the week (yep, you heard right) to make sure we can give our amazing organizers and volunteers what they need for these last, and most important, seven days: (Emphasis added.)

Here’s to waking up on November 7th with no regrets.

P.S. — Two supporters and their guests will be flown out to Chicago next week to meet President Obama and watch his Election Night speech from the front row. Any donation you make before tomorrow at midnight automatically enters you to win the trip — so chip in today.

All good patriotic Americans should chip in with lots of ObamaMoney.

Send this. It has his picture so he is sure to like it.

Our lovely First Lady sent me this today:

Friend –

I know we ask you to do a lot, and I cannot tell you how grateful I am for all you’ve done — but with six days to go, we all need to dig a little deeper.

Right now, all of the progress we’ve made together is in danger of being undone. We just found out we’re being outraised in this final month by a wide margin.

We’ve always known this race would be close, and we’ve always known we’d have to work harder than the other side — the question is, will you step up and do that right now, before it’s too late?

Please chip in $5 or more today:

We’ve beaten the odds before — by coming together and giving all we can. Let’s do it again. Barack needs you.

P.S. — Any donation you make by midnight tonight will automatically enter you to bring a guest to Chicago to meet Barack and have front-row tickets to his speech on Election Night.

She must already have given the limit out of her very own little purse this season, which she probably saved from her modest vacation fund.

Obama Antoinette

Breitbart’s analysis of Federal Election Commission records indicates that she has generously given ZerØ. Surely, giving ZerØ to the nation must be more than enough. His worth transcends mere money; even ObamaMoney.

Good Old Joe sent me this:

Friend –

In less than a week, Barack is heading to Chicago for Election Night. Whether he addresses the nation that night as a winner is up to you.

Barack knows it. I know it, too. It’s why he wants you there with him.

But tonight at midnight is your last chance to enter.

Donate $5 or whatever you can to stop the other side from buying and bullying its way to a win right at the end — and you’ll be automatically entered to meet Barack and get a front-row seat at the Election Night event in Chicago.

Don’t brush this off.

This race could not be closer, and voters in states that will decide the election are seeing ad after ad after ad attacking Barack and me.

Even a great campaign, with the right candidate and the right ideas, can lose to that kind of strategy in the end.

I’ve seen it happen.

The dangers of being drastically outspent, especially right now at the end of this campaign, are real. Mitt Romney and the Republicans have $45 million more in the bank than we do for the final push. Together with outside groups, they’re outspending us in nearly every battleground state this week. That’s a problem, folks, unless you take ownership of this campaign right now.

Please donate $5 or whatever you can today, so that if you meet Barack next week, you’ll know you did everything you could to help him beat this back:

P.S. — Don’t worry about how you’ll get to Chicago and where you’ll stay. If you’re one of the lucky winners, the campaign will cover airfare and accommodations for you and a guest.

Finally, this is from my friend Rufus Gifford:

Obama - Biden

Friend –

There are so many reasons to chip in to automatically enter this campaign’s final contest:

– Because your donation will help close the $45 million gap between us and our opponents
– Because you could be there right up front for President Obama’s speech on Election Night
– Because you’d get to meet him
– Because your flight to Chicago and your hotel would be FREE, for you and a guest
– Because you built this campaign and you deserve to be there at the finish
– Because you know how many people are depending on keeping President Obama on the job
– Because you don’t want the other side to win

You have until midnight tonight — chip in $5 or whatever you can and you’ll automatically be entered:

You owe ME! You didn’t built that.

You owe ME! You didn’t built that.

Team Obama needs lots more money so that it can air more great campaign ads like this:

It should go without saying that lots of money is needed to pay for ads that are so dignified and persuasive.

It certainly is a great shame that they are running out of other people’s money, just when they claim to need it so badly. However, John Hinderaker at Power Line has an explanation:

The Romney and Obama campaigns followed opposite strategies this year. Obama, knowing that he couldn’t defend his record, launched a massive pre-emptive strike against Romney over the summer. The Obama campaign spent more money smearing Romney than has ever been devoted to negative advertising in the history of politics. The plan was to destroy Romney by demonizing him before he had an opportunity to introduce himself to voters. The Romney campaign followed a very different approach. Convinced that historically, money spent during the summer is largely wasted, Romney decided to hoard most of his cash until October, which is when most undecided voters make up their minds. While Obama has raised and spent more money than Romney over the course of the campaign, it is Romney who is dominating the airwaves in the final weeks.

Obviously, there is no way that Team Obama could possibly have expected that if it spent ObamaMoney as though there were always going to be more where it came from it might run short at the end; could it? Of course not; there just has to be endless OmabaMoney, the Team wants it and does not like taking “NO” for an answer. It’s like Federal tax revenues — there always has to be more when the Team needs wants it. They need it today and, like President Obama, “Can’t Wait!” Never before had I been as proud of Team Obama as I am today.

Dan, I was so moved that I immediately sent them $5. Then I thought better of it and sent them another $25.

Presidential campaign spending (and that of some other races) is just out of control. Federal money is available to them, if they agree to accept it; they should be required to, and then they couldn’t beg for other money.

Each campaign will spend around a billion dollars, and that doesn’t count all the PAC spending. Sick.

I got a full load of something from Vice President Biden and plan to send that. They may have it in ample supply, however, and if so won’t need it.
