I’m a retired U.S. Army Colonel. I was a pilot, flying helicopters and airplanes, and a troop commander for seven years in units from company to brigade levels. I served two tours of duty in Vietnam as an attack helicopter pilot, and I was assigned to Panama for two years and to Germany for four years.
After leaving the Army, I worked for the U.S. Agency for International Development. While with USAID, I lived and worked in Russia, Armenia, Senegal, Angola, Albania, Hungary, and Serbia.
I also worked for an American telecommunications company in Moscow, owned and managed a small consulting firm in Belgrade, and worked as a teacher of English and management for a private company in Belgrade.
I’m interested in government, politics, foreign affairs, the military, American and European history, the vicissitudes of life, old movies, cats, a few dogs, a horse now and then, and always a good joke.
I’m a resident of Austin, Texas, but for many years I lived in other countries, most recently in Belgrade, Serbia.
